• Have obtained a master’s degree or higher in the field of speech-language pathology. A master’s degree in speech-language pathology signifies a professional that is highly qualified and an expert in spoken language, phonology, language acquisition, and spoken English articulation.
• English Teachers that have obtained a bachelor’s degree and have additional training and/or the equivalent of the TEFOL certification.
• Native English Speakers. All of our specialists are native English speakers and speak with standard American English, which is what our program teaches to all of our clients.
• Have been trained in the Compton P-ESL Accent Reduction program, have taken courses through the LDS & Associates Training Center by Lorna Sikorski, or have been trained by an equivalent accent modification program. Compton P-ESL (Producing English as a Second Language) is a research-based method which provides clients with the skills necessary to reduce their accents. The program was developed at the San Francisco Institute of Language and Phonology by Arthur J. Compton, Ph.D., an experienced linguist. Since 1985, the Compton method has helped thousands of non-native English speakers change their accents and lives. Each client will acquire at least 50% improvement with his or her accent if the client puts the practice in to acquire the skills. The other training that our specialist may have taken courses through is the LDS & Associates Training Center. LDS & Associates has been delivering quality train-the-trainer programs for accent modification since 1988.
